Chiefs begin offseason workouts

Nearly three months after a disappointing end to the season, the Kansas City Chiefs are set to get back to work. Andy Reid and Company began phase one of their offseason workout program Monday.

Authorities say Independence killing was over $50 debt

An Independence man charged with murder in connection with a shooting last week remained at large Monday morning police said. Court records show Darrel Maggard, 35, is charged in Jackson County Circuit Court with second-degree murder, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon for the shooting death of George Dale, 51, of Kansas City.

Since the middle of February, it has not been possible to obtain restaurant inspection reports for Blue Springs and Grain Valley – but they are back. The Jackson County Environmental Health Division inspects sites where food is served outside Independence and Kansas City.

Hawley called out for hypocrisy and for actions hurting U.S. defense

An extraordinary thing happened earlier this month on the floor of the U.S. Senate. A Democratic senator from Hawaii, about as far as you can get from Missouri, dispensed with decorum and launched into a withering attack on Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo. Floor speeches typically are reserved for the debate of issues and bills but rarely devolve into direct personal attacks. Hawley’s divisive antics over the past year, however, apparently have pushed Hawaii Sen. Brian Schatz too far.

Carl “Mark” Wagoner passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 14, 2022 with family by his side. He was 72. A visitation will be held on Friday, April 22 from 9-10:30 a.m. at the LDS Stake Center in Independence, Missouri. Funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. with burial to follow at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, Missouri.
