Bill Beemont, 98, passed away, December 9, 2022. He was born in Kansas City, KS, on the 18th wedding anniversary of his parents, Alex and Lora (Tanner) Beemont, the seventh of seven. All siblings have predeceased him. He graduated from Argentine High School in 1942. After graduation, he was employed by the Kansas City Quartermaster Depot on July 4, 1942; he enlisted in the Marine Corps on December 8, 1942 and served 33 months in the South Pacific and in Officers’ Training, being discharged on September 12, 1945. He returned to KC as a civilian and served 34 more years in the Federal Government in various agencies in the Kansas City area. He is a member of the Nativity of Mary Catholic Church, in Independence, where he volunteered in many activities. He was a member of American Legion Post #21, Veterans of Foreign War Post 1000. He married Angelina Tortorilla, his high school sweetheart on January, 5 1946; they were married for 70 years. They have two children, a son, Greg (Cindy), and daughter, Gale (Brian). He is also survived by grandson, Jay Beemont (Karen), three great grandchildren, Jaiden, Brayden and Harper, and numerous nephews and nieces.
