Dear Doctors: The new COVID-19 boosters are here, and I’m not sure if, or when, I need to get one. I had the two-shot Moderna series last winter.
1. 40th anniversary celebration at Burr Oak Woods Conservation Nature Center: 1401 N.W. Park St., Blue Springs. From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., there will be a free fishing clinic and the Missouri Department of Conservation will provide the gear. No fishing permits will be required. From 1 to 7 p.m., a carnival will have stations where visitors can try archery or throwing the atlatl. There will also be conservation exhibits, crafts, games, children’s activities and food trucks. There will be historic interpreters, artisans, musicians, storytellers, and crafters bringing to life the 19th century celebration of the harvest. The Fort Osage Education Foundation’s annual Red Barn Bash is scheduled for 6 p.m. this Saturday, Oct, 1, at the Sibley Orchard and Cider Mill.

Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers in the world. While many prostate cancers grow slowly and remain localized, other types are aggressive and spread quickly.
As much as we preach about spaying and neutering animals, cats seem to be a dime a dozen. A client and friend had some stray cats hanging around her house. I borrowed some cat traps and caught a mother cat and a kitten.
The newest COVID boosters, known as the “bivalent boosters” are now available. The Pfizer bivalent booster is available to people ages 12 and older. The Moderna bivalent booster is available to people ages 18 and older. The bivalent boosters target the most recent COVID Omicron sub-variants BA.4 and BA.5. The CDC recommends bivalent boosters at this time.
