An 80% scale replica of the Vietnam Memorial Wall will visit Kansas City from May 19 to May 30 and will be displayed, without charge, at the southeast lawn of the National World War I Museum and Memorial, 2 Memorial Drive, Kansas City.

The National Weather Service says the heat index could reach 100 on Tuesday. Residents can continue to expect highs in the 90s with gusty winds for a few days until a slight break with a chance of rain overnight Thursday and then a high in the 80s on Friday.
Avila University honors local students Three local students were honored at Avila University’s honors recognition ceremony on April 30: • Ernest Bustillo of Independence received the Laura Sloan Outstanding Student Teacher Award. • Joshua McCullough of Blue Springs was named the Outstanding Student in Accounting.
