We don’t have trick-or-treaters, salespeople or unexpected guests. The only visitors to come up the driveway, unannounced, are deer, possums and raccoons.

I walk dogs, and hot weather always presents a problem. It can be too hot to walk dogs, especially on a hot sidewalk or road. I check the road by putting the palm of my hand or my bare foot on the road and holding it there for 30 seconds. If it does not burn my skin, it is OK to walk the dog.

It's only 30 minutes a day, for goodness’ sake. I'm back-pedaling as fast as I can to avoid any kind of exercise, which, in turn, is just pushing me over the hill that much sooner.
