$260 million Independence project list now in the hands of the City Council
The Independence City Council should consider asking voters for up to about $260 million worth of projects from police facilities to streets, a citizen committee recommends, though the precise amounts and whether to include a community center or recreation center in a bond issue will be up to the council. “We were not tasked or called to be the justice center review committee, or the rec center review committee,” committee chair Doug Cowan told the council Tuesday, as those are more “finite” decisions.
