The Independence School District will raise its property tax levy 12 cents for 2024-25, though the district estimates that won’t mean much, if any, additional property taxes for local homeowners.

One of the topics of American culture surfacing recently is that of increasing percentages of young people embracing socialism as a desirable policy for our future, as much as 40-plus percent. This is not terribly surprising to me since students do not most likely receive much if any financial education from their parents anymore and few school regimens contain it even through high school.

An Independence man convicted of threatening a Jackson County judge, including some threats with racial slurs and others in which he stalked the courthouse and office staff, is to spend 11 years in prison.
