Bus drivers thought better of protest

From The Examiner during the week of March 6-11, 1972: • “SCHOOL BUS DRIVERS CALL OF ‘PROTESTS’” – Independence school children have continued to ride Pace buses to and from school this week in spite of a threat by a few local drivers to leave their passengers stranded at a number of schools throughout the city. The Examiner learned that at least four drivers and possibly nine would stage a protest Thursday afternoon because of allegedly not being paid on the Saturdays school was in session.
