KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — Russian forces stepped up their attacks on crowded urban areas Tuesday, bombarding the central square in Ukraine’s second-biggest city and Kyiv’s main TV tower in what the country’s president called a blatant campaign of terror.
Council airs questions on gas turbines
Although the Independence City Council approved the city utility moving forward with negotiations to buy two refurbished gas-powered turbines, the endorsement is a bit tepid. The council voted 4-3 Monday for the letter of intent for Power & Light to negotiate with ProEnergy for a “best and final offer” for two gas-powered turbines that can generate up to 84 megawatts and would replace Power & Light’s six aging combustion turbines engines.

Thousands evacuate from Australian floods
BRISBANE, Australia (AP) — Tens of thousands of people were ordered to evacuate their homes by Tuesday and hundreds of thousands more were told to prepare to flee as parts of Australia’s southeast coast were inundated by the worst flooding in more than a decade. At least 10 people have died.
