Sarah Lucille Martin Neely

Sarah Lucille Martin Neely, 78, of Roodhouse, Ill., passed away Sunday, October 30, 2022, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Ill. She was born November 21, 1943, in Jacksonville, Ill., the daughter of Floyd and Lolita Story Martin. She is survived by her children, Kate (Jarrod) Williams of Grimesland, N.C. and Rick (Erin) Neely of Blue Springs, Mo; four grandchildren, Betsy Williams, Daniel Williams, Kendal Neely and Evelyn Neely; two bonus grandchildren, J.D. Lindley and Emily Peak and her cousin, Will Rees of Monmouth, Ill. She was preceded in death by her parents and her aunt, Opal Story Rees. A proud graduate of Roodhouse High School, she attended Illinois College in Jacksonville. She then went to the University of Missouri, where she was a graduate student in the School of Journalism. She was a member of Marching Mizzou, which was, at that time, one of the few college bands to admit women. She was employed as a teacher, a columnist - as writer of “The Same Ol’ Column with No Name” in the Oak Grove Banner, and, after her mother’s passing, also enjoyed working with the Ethan and Penny Cox family to manage her farmland. She attended Roodhouse Christian Church until its closing when she then transferred her membership to First Christian Church in White Hall, Ill. Sarah enjoyed her time as a band and choir parent in Oak Grove, Mo. and was president of the music booster club when her children were in high school. Sarah loved to travel and do genealogical research. She actively volunteered for various political campaigns including Carson Ross for State Representative and others. She sat on the Oak Grove Planning and Zoning Commission and the Oak Grove R-VI School Board for many years and was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 12, 2022, at Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Roodhouse with burial at Fernwood Cemetery. Anthony Eugene Potter

Anthony Eugene Potter, 53, of Blue Springs, Mo. passed away on Tuesday, October 25, 2022. A visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, November 12, 2022, at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley, Mo. Burial at sea will be held at a later date. Tony was born October 23, 1969, in Topeka, Kan., the son of John Lynn and Pamela Sue (Clark) Potter. He graduated from Chase County High School. Tony served four years in the U.S. Navy. He graduated from Kansas State University. Tony most recently worked as an accountant for the Federal Government (USDA). He loved to travel to different places. Tony was always trying new foods. He worked to perfect his favorite foods that he cooked at home. Tony had a great love of sports. He enjoyed watching a variety of sports at home and traveling to watch different sporting events live.

Larry Ray Hunner

Larry Ray Hunner, 72, of Harrisonville, Mo., formerly of Independence, Mo., passed away on Friday, October 28, 2022, at his home. Memorial Services and Military Honors will be on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at 2 p.m. at Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville with a visitation beginning at 1 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association at www.mda.org.

Jessica JoLynn Maloney

Jessica JoLynn Maloney, 41, passed away on October 30, 2022. Jessica was born on April 2, 1981, in Kansas City, Mo. to Gary and Sharon Mullendore. She attended St. Mary’s High School in the class of 1999. She married Nicholas Maloney on October 5, 2002, and they had one child, Gavin. Jessica was a loving wife, mother, sister, daughter, and friend. She was a bookkeeper at Klinginsmith Autobody for many years. Jessica was a member of St. Mary’s Church. She loved spending time with family creating lasting memories especially on the trips to the beach. Jessica was tremendously caring, fun loving and was always there for you no matter the circumstances. She had the most beautiful smile and often shared that with others through her quirky sense of humor. Jessica always made people laugh, even total strangers. She was self-giving and always had a way to help people see the bright side. Jessica was a best friend to everyone, but what she loved most was being a mother. Jessica is survived by her son, Gavin Maloney; husband, Nick Maloney; mother, Sharon Cureton; siblings, Janel Mullendore, Tyler (Sheree) Mullendore, Nicholas Mullendore, Rachel (Richard Marks) Mullendore, Michelle Mullendore, Samuel Cureton, Madison Cureton; nieces and nephews, Carter Mullendore, Cade Mullendore, Jason Mullendore, Charles Marks, Abigail Mullendore-Groth; maternal grandparents, Ann Elgin, Jerry Zeller; paternal grandmother, Sandy Mullendore; father- and mother-in-law, Danny and Marsha Maloney. She is preceded in death by her father, Gary Mullendore and paternal grandfather, Gary Mullendore. A Rosary and Visitation was held Thursday, November 3, 2022, at Carson Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052. Rosary began at 5:30 p.m. and visitation between the hours of 6-8 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will take place Friday, November 4, 2022, at Nativity of Mary, 10021 E. 36th St., Independence, MO 64052.
