Charles Shropshire

Charles Shropshire, 97, of Sibley, Mo., passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2022, at his home in Sibley. Visitation will be held Saturday, September 3, 2022, from 9 until 10 a.m. at Speaks Buckner Chapel, 300 Adams, Buckner, MO, 64016, 816-650-5555. Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 3, 2022, at the chapel with burial to follow at Buckner Hill Cemetery, Buckner. Charles Calvin Shropshire was born on June 6, 1925, in Sibley to Forrest and Della (Davis) Shropshire. He attended various schools through the 8th grade. Charles was a hard worker through his various jobs. He worked for Standard Oil for 12 years before starting his passion in construction as a carpenter for many years. Charles married his beloved Dorothy Lee Coen on August 4, 1945. Together they raised three children. Charles will be remembered for spending time with his friends and family, being an avid gardener, his love for farm animals. He provided for his family through not only his work but raising beef, chicken and other farm animals. Charles was also an avid Skoal guy where he had his tobacco for over 50 years. Following his retirement from his carpenter career Charles served as President and Financial Secretary for the #1329 Carpenter’s Local Union. As Dorothy’s health declined, he gained his companion and beloved cat, Blackie Nose. Dorothy preceded him in death on September 26, 2015. Grateful for having shared in his life are his three children, Dwane (Kebby) Shropshire, Shirley Shropshire, Gerald (Carrie) Shropshire, all of Sibley; six grandchildren, Steve Jackley, Jason Kimbrell, Amanda Shropshire, Justin Shropshire, Alyssa Shropshire, Brianne Shropshire; six greatgrandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Jeanne Rollins, 64, of Belton, Mo., passed away on Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Mo. Visitation will be Sunday, September 4, 2022, from 10 until 11 a.m. at Carson-Speaks Chapel. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. at the funeral chapel following the visitation.
