Verna M. Lohman

Verna M. Lohman, 91, went home to heaven peacefully on August 26, 2022. The family will greet visitors on Tuesday, August 30, 2022, from 6-8pm at Timothy Lutheran Church, 425 NW RD Mize Road, Blue Springs, MO. A Celebration of Life Service for Verna will occur at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 31, 2022, also at Timothy Church, followed by a Christian burial in Blue Springs Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Meyers Funeral Chapel in Blue Springs. Memories of Verna and words of comfort may be shared at meyersfuneralchapel.com Verna was born on January 10, 1931, into the family of Henry and Hulda (Nierman) Becker, the fourth of five children, at the family farm near Concordia, MO. She was baptized in March 1931 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Concordia, where she also received her formal Christian education at St. Paul’s Lutheran School. She was confirmed in her Christian faith on April 2, 1944, also at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Verna graduated from Concordia High School in 1948. Verna married Donald E. Lohman on September 10, 1950. Their marriage was blessed with two daughters, Diane and Debra. Verna was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. In July 1961, the Lohmans moved to Blue Springs, where her focus concentrated on supporting Don’s career at Adams Dairy and later as a New York Life Insurance Company agent, managing the household, and raising their daughters in a larger town with new challenges. Through it all, Verna’s strong work ethic and steadfast faith in God laid the foundation as an outstanding role model. The Lohmans were among the founders and charter members of Timothy Lutheran Church in 1962. Verna was an integral leader in Timothy’s youth programs, fellowship activities, and women’s ministry with the charter of the eventual Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. Jeannine Karen Westbrooks,

Jeannine Karen Westbrooks, (81) passed away unexpectedly at home on Thursday, Aug. 11, 2022, in Lee’s Summit. Visitation will be September 6, at 9:00 a.m., followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 10:30 a.m., at Christ United Methodist Church in Independence, MO. Jeannine was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Westbrooks. She is survived by children Troy (Julie) Caldwell; Heather (Michael) Morgan; Eric (Stacy) Caldwell; and Chad (Christina) Caldwell. She had nine grandchildren and five greatgrandchildren.
