Scott Frank Brock (Boyd), 54, formerly of Independence, Mo., passed away Monday, May 16, 2022, in Pocatello, Idaho. Scott was born to Frances Jane Brock and Eugene Baldwin, Jr. in Cape Girardeau on May 28, 1967. After the family moved to the Kansas City area, Fran married David Boyd, who adopted Scott and his brother in 1974. Scott attended Messiah Lutheran and Blackburn Elementary schools, Bridger Junior High, and Truman High School in Independence, and graduated in 1985. He was a member of the Truman Cross Country team. After graduation, Scott joined the U.S. Army and was stationed in Hohenfels, West Germany and El Paso, Texas.

Fredrita “Sue” Callahan, 86, of Independence, Mo., was born into eternal life at home with family June 3, 2022. A chapel gathering to honor Sue will be held on Friday, June 10, at 12 p.m., at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, 810 Highway O, Laurie, MO 65037. In lieu of flowers, Sue suggests memorial contributions to St Jude’s. Sue was a faithful servant of Christ whose belief was to “live one day at a time, not my will but Thine, oh Lord, be done.” She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick; two grandsons, (David and Justin Chambers); and one great-granddaughter (Lainey Schirmer). She is survived by her brother, Richard (Dick) Kline (Helen); her half-sister, Jean Barker (Sterling); her children, Linda Moore (Frank), Teresa Chambers (David Bruce), Connie Peteete (Mike), and John Wheeler; her stepchildren, Katie DePeralta (Mark), Dan Callahan, Tim Callahan (Gaylene), and Susan Callahan; 15 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. She loved to sing and play the piano. She sang solos as early as grade school and was the church choir director. Even though she wasn’t able to graduate from high school, she got her GED and then helped others to do the same. She was a member of WIC (Women In Construction). She was a fervent believer in Christ traveling all over the USA and Europe with her husband for a book ministry. She and her husband had the privilege of meeting Mother Teresa. Blue Springs, Mo. - Patsy Ann Pratt, 73, passed away on Thursday, June 2, 2022. A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, June 9, 2022, from 5-7 p.m. at Speaks Suburban Chapel in Independence, Mo. Cremation is planned with burial to take place at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Ten Mile, Tenn. Memorial contributions can be made to the CVICU at St Luke’s Plaza. Patsy was born on March 19, 1949 in Oliver Springs, Tenn., to Paul and Nell Sharp. Patsy graduated from Raytown South High School in 1967. Patsy worked for 43 years at Bendix (later Allied-Signal, Honeywell). She loved to travel and watch her Dallas Cowboys and KC Chiefs. But, most of all, she fiercely loved her family. She was funny and passionate (and some would even say bossy). She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Wilson (Derek); her sister, Joyce Kyker; and two wonderful sisters (Sandy and Kay) and one brother (Larry) by marriage, as well as many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, John.

Samantha Marie Long, 44, of Independence, Missouri passed away unexpectedly May 31, 2022 at home. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 June 18th at 705 W. Walnut St. in Independence. Samantha was born July 5, 1977 in Lake County, California. Samantha moved with her family to Missouri as an infant and lived in Independence her entire life. She attended Truman High School and House of Heavilin Beauty College. Together with Jamie Brizendine they raised 4 children: Mikaela, Austin, Noah, and Oliver. Samantha was a devoted mother and loved her children more than anything. She was also a loving daughter and sister. She loved her family, babies, animals, all things Paris, and antique shopping. She was proceeded in death by her mother Diane E. Long, her maternal grandparents Joy and Bob Bateman, and paternal grandparents Mary and Norman Long. Samantha is survived by her children Mikaela Long, Austin Long, Noah Long, and Oliver Brizendine, her father Michael G. Long, her sister Jennifer Long, and many loving relatives and friends.
