Phillip Joseph Ryan of Independence MO born June 17th, 1960,passed away at home surrounded by his wife Georgia and best friends Bill and Kim Hanes and Becky Pocock Tuesday March 22nd, 2022 after almost a yearlong battle with lung cancer.

Freda Mary Wilcox

Freda Mary Wilcox of Independence, MO, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, March 25th, 2022. She was 98 years old. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 30th, 2022, at Ascension Lutheran Church (4900 Blue Ridge Blvd, Kansas City, MO 64133) at 9:00am with services beginning at 10:00am. Freda was born in Forest Green, MO on November 14th, 1923, to Lawrence and Lizzie Renne. She was a bookkeeper at Wayne Linen Supply for 22 years before retiring. Freda enjoyed the simple pleasures life had to offer, such as going out to eat with loved ones and spending quality time with friends and family. She was an incredibly independent woman, still cooking meals and baking at home later into her life. She also loved to travel and had a competitive nature, indulging in card games, casinos and attending horse races whenever she could. Freda is preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Lizzie Renne, her husband, Ted Wilcox, her son, David Wilcox, her daughter-in-law, Patti Wilcox, her four siblings, Elmer, Ray, Kenneth, and Delbert Renne, and grandson, Craig Schlichte. She is survived by her children, Karen (Robert) Snell, Clark Wilcox, Beth Wilcox, her grandchildren Christine (John) Riley, Matthew Schlichte, Catelynn Wilcox, Dylan Wilcox, Anna Wilcox, and Aaron Wilcox, and great grandchildren Dakoda James, Madeleine Bekker, and Autumn Divis. Mary Alice Mayfield

Mary Alice Mayfield, 89 of Independence, Missouri passed away peacefully on March 22, 2022. Mary was born on April 19, 1932, to Orus Wilson and Margaret Wilson. She was a Unit Secretary at the Independence Sanitarium and Hospital, a Claims Adjustor for GEHA, and a school librarian for Elm Grove Elementary School. She was the Den Mother for Cub Scout Den 221 for many years. Mary enjoyed reading, puzzles, Royals and Chiefs games, sewing, knitting, and watching John Wayne movies. She loved to decorate her home for the Christmas and Easter seasons.

Melanie Cleta House

Melanie Cleta House, of Independence, Missouri, passed away Tuesday March 22, 2022. She was 75 years of age. Melanie was born March 8, 1947, in Kansas City, Missouri the daughter of James and Francis (Bradley) Pardee, the oldest of 4 children. Melanie was a lover of music, all music, a tremendous vocalist and played a mean 12 string guitar to back it up, music was always in her home. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother, some also say the best cook there ever was, a true “Domestic Engineer”. Melanie could be known to be old school and maybe a little stubborn. She worked hard and loved harder. Melanie was a chocoholic and was known to always have a sweet treat. She was a fantastic lady and will be deeply missed. Melanie is survived by her husband, Franklin House; children, Kimberly (Rosa Hernandez) Smith, Ronald (Kelly) Smith, Monica (Steven) McBride; stepson, Shawn House; siblings, Sherry (Larry) Hoskins, Gail Pardee; 4 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Francis Pardee; brother, Herbert Pardee, and stepson, Shane House. A memorial visitation will be held Monday, March 28, 2022, at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Family will greet guest between the hours of 6-8 pm.

Kelly Woodard Valentine

Kelly, age 52, and a former resident of Blue Springs, Missouri; Tulsa, Oklahoma; and Frisco, Texas, lost her hard fought battle with cancer. She leaves behind her husband, Cary Valentine; daughter, Alexandria Boynton; grandchildren, Foxx, Blade, and Indi; Parents, Ronald and Sharon Woodard; and sister, Lindsey Woodard Schnoebelen. After graduating, Kelly worked as a flight attendant and several years working in the construction industry as a liaison for the work crew and payroll officer. There will be no formal arrangements at this time.

Amy Dawn Reimal-Litzenberger

Amy was a fun loving young lady who never met a stranger. She had a heart as big as all outdoors. She did not have any biological children, but was a “mother” to many. No matter who she encountered, she was immediately ready to help them when they experienced misfortune. She would open her heart and her home to those in need of her help.
