Lawrence “Larry” Hoover

We gather to celebrate our beloved Lawrence “Larry” Hoover, born February 14, 1951, and left this world February 24, 2022. Larry is survived by his wife of 48 years, Luanne Hoover. His children Alicia, Jeffrey, and Samuel Hoover and their spouses. Larry’s siblings, Lynn, Lorain, Leah, and Lorretta and their spouses. 13 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Preceded in death with Larry is his son Joshua Hoover, his parents Lee and Lois, and his sister Linda. Larry was a devoted christian, husband, father, and brother. He loved people and traveling. Larry was loved and respected by many, including influencing his children’s childhood friends. After graduating in 1969 from William Chrisman HS, he went on to marry Luanne. He became a master cabinet maker. Larry owned and operated a cabinet shop for over 30 years. He made art of his work. Larry was an unforgettable, remarkable man. He will be greatly missed. Memorial service to be held at Cornerstone Community Church, March 12th. Visitation at 10 am. Service at 11 am.

William “Bill” Wilson

William “Bill” Wilson, 92, of Oak Grove, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at Oak Grove Nursing & Rehab. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 6th at Grace United Methodist Church, Oak Grove Campus; burial in Oak Grove Cemetery. Sandra Allene Hamm

Sandra Allene Hamm (Noell), 82, passed away in Plymouth, MI on February 25th, 2022 after a long battle with diabetes and heart problems. Sandra (Sandy) was born on July 10th, 1939, in Ponca City, OK. She was the fourth daughter of William and Blanche Noell. She attended Jefferson Grade School. After the family moved to Kansas City, MO, she graduated from Paseo High School in 1957. She later graduated from Oklahoma State University with a degree in Elementary Education. She taught in Kansas City, MO and Downey, CA, Wichita, KS, and Blue Springs, MO. She married Ernest Hamm on December 26th, 1964 at the Broadway Baptist Church in Kansas City, MO. His career as a Service Engineer for Honeywell took them to Massachusetts, California, Arizona (where their three children were born), Kansas, and then to Blue Springs, Missouri where they raised their children. She was a loving wife and mother. Later, her favorite teaching assignment was with the Little Angels Learning Center within the First Baptist Church of Blue Springs where she and Ernie were active in their Sunday School class. She was later employed at the Defense Finance and Accounting Services and retired in 2010. After her husband’s death in 2017 she moved to Sunrise Senior Living in Plymouth, MI to be near her son, Ben. Sandy was an excellent cook, loved to sing, a collector of DeGrazia and Marjolein Bastin art, musicals, old movies, trivia, board games, and cards. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren. Sandy is survived by her children Becky, Amy, and Ben and her grandchildren Allene, Christopher, Laura, Ethan, and Harlan as well as her sister Lauri and brother-in-law and wife Jack and Nancy. Sandy’s graveside service will be held at Resthaven Cemetery in Ponca City, Oklahoma on March 4th at 2:00 pm.

Darrell Lane Bolt

On February 28, 2022, Darrell Lane Bolt, dear husband of the late Parealee Bolt and beloved father of three children, passed away at age 89. Darrell was born on June 18, 1932 in Independence, Missouri to Lottie and Lane Bolt. He was a 1951 graduate of William Chrisman High School. In 1953 he married Parealee Bryant, also a William Chrisman graduate, class of 1952. They raised three children, Kathy, Steven, and Robert. Darrell had a long career at Armco Steel, after first working for Western Blueprint in Kansas City. After thirty-two years with Armco, he retired in the late 1980s, and opened Quality Microfilm until selling it. After this second retirement, he became a guide at the Community of Christ Temple in Independence, a position he loved. And from the feedback of those who took his tours, they loved him and his vast knowledge of church history. Darrell was an active member of the Cornerstone Community of Christ congregation and held the office of Elder. Over his lifetime, he served the church in many ministerial positions in several congregations and participated in classes of scripture study and specifically the archeology of the scriptures. He enjoyed woodworking, taking classes to perfect his craftsmanship. His grandchildren love the many pieces he has made them, especially the rocking horses. Darrell is preceded in death by his dear wife Parealee Bryant Bolt who passed on February 12, 2022. They were married for sixty-eight years. He is survived by his three children Kathy (Mark) Franzblau, Steven (Carol) Bolt, and Robert (Aimee) Bolt, eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. The family will hold a private graveside service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Lake Doniphan Conference Center, 500 W. Pacific Ave., Independence, MO, 64050. Janna Rae Russell

Janna Rae Russell nee Surface went home to the Lord February 27, 2022. She was born September 12, 1945. She was preceded in death by her mother Laura Louise Surface and sister Laura Dianne Surface. Janna is survived by son, Troy Alan (Pamela) and their children Zac, Cody, and Brianna; daughter, Kristina Renee (Ramiro Treat), and children Hayden and Cooper: and such a long list of grands, great grands and extended family and loving friends. Services will be Saturday, March 5, 2022 at Epic Church, 3711 S Whitney Ave., Independence, Mo. Fellowship at 10:00 am followed by the service at 11:00 am.

Darlene Mae Nixon Wallace Holm

Darlene Mae Holm entered the gates of Heaven on February 26, 2022 while at Monterey Park Rehab and Nursing Center in Independence, Mo., with family and friends by her side. Darlene was born June 24, 1932 in Lee’s Summit, Mo., to Nye and Lona Nixon, who named her Darlin Nola.
