We all know someone who is an amazing citizen — someone who serves on civic boards and planning committees, volunteers for special projects on evenings and weekends, and uses their position to make big changes in communities throughout the region.
DEAR ABBY: I have been with my wife for 25 years, married for 22 of them. I love her very much, but sometimes I feel it isn’t mutual. We have three children, all girls, ranging in age from early teens to mid-20s. My wife also has an older son from a previous marriage.

After the FBI search for classified records at former President Donald Trump’s Florida home, his chorus of sycophants kept singing the same tune: The search was unnecessary. The government should have just asked him to return the documents. Trump had declassified them anyway. But new court filings devastate each of those arguments. The public should insist that those who lambasted law enforcement in their eagerness to defend Trump before any facts were known explain where they stand now.

Tony Sommer, Independence To the editor: Noland Road is finally getting a “road diet.” Having lived close to this section of Noland nearly my entire adult life, I have long believed that a “road diet” was necessary and am thrilled that it is finally happening. But I am also dismayed by a letter to the editor from a Mr. Jones, who opposes the plan (The Examiner, Aug. 27, “Noland Road plan is a terrible idea”).
The COVID-19 virus’s course and evolution remain unpredictable. But this far into the pandemic, there are some safe assumptions.
