The Van Horn girls soccer team roared into the finals of its own tournament, the Kansas City Cup. Anya Linstrom scored four goals to lead the Falcons to an 8-1 rout of a William Chrisman team that entered with a 14-3 record and a four-game winning streak in Thursday’s semifinal at Van Horn High School.
The Fort Osage baseball team has had its troubles holding leads this season. That didn’t happen Thursday night, however, as the Indians pulled away after leading 4-3 early on the way to an 11-4 Suburban Middle Six Conference victory over host Belton.

It’s been quite a senior season for Blue Springs South High School’s Kennedy Hecker. She received a military appointment to West Point, earned four all-state honorable mention medals at the Class 2 Missouri State High School Girls Swimming and Diving Championships and has been named The Examiner’s 2021-22 Swimmer/Diver of the Year.
This time last year, Chiefs linebacker Nick Bolton was waiting to hear his name called in the NFL Draft. This year, he says the offseason has been a lot less stressful.
