Royals lose Mondesi to torn ACL

CHICAGO — Kansas City Royals shortstop Adalberto Mondesi’s season is in jeopardy after tests Thursday revealed a torn anterior cruciate ligament of his left knee. Mondesi, 26, who played in only 35 games in 2021 because of left hamstring and left oblique injuries, had started 14 of 15 games.

Eagles get past Truman wall

After their game with Truman, Grain Valley head girls soccer coach Brett Lewis told his Eagles to be prepared for teams to “pack it in” against them. When the second-year head coach said that, he was referring to conference teams committing eight to 10 players to the defensive third of the field the majority of the time.
