Truman's girls basketball team yielded just four points in the second half Tuesday to complete a 43-16 win over visiting Belton. Urya' Williams netted a season-high 20 points for the Patriots, who improved to 14-9, while Aa'Mya Stacker added 12 points and Grace Brunk chipped in five points. Belton fell to 4-19.
Down by eight with less than four minutes to play, William Chrisman caught fire late against visiting Fort Osage. The Bears closed the gap down to one point, but then missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer that would’ve forced overtime.
Coach Kory Lower’s Blue Springs South girls basketball team had plenty of reasons to celebrate Monday night as it clinched the outright Suburban Big Eight championship and senior guard Jaidynn Mason scored her 1,000th career point as a Jaguar in a dominating 44-23 win over visiting Lee’s Summit North.
Jed Paulsen, a member of the Blue Springs High School football coaching staff the past six years, has been named the new head coach, following David White’s resignation last week. White was named head coach in 2020 after longtime coach Kelly Donohoe announced that he was retiring from Blue Springs and taking the job as head coach at Rockhurst High School.
It’s that time of year again. The Missouri State High School Wrestling Championships begin Thursday and will go through Saturday at Mizzou Arena in Columbia.
