Workers with Community Services League help Larry Pridgeon select gifts for his family Wednesday as he walks through CSLs annual Christmas Store, conducted this week at Independence Uptown Market. The Christmas Store in Independence runs through noon Saturday, and 1,600 families signed up for times to browse and select donated items for Christmas gifts, which will help about 5,000 children, said Lexi Pardee, communications manager for CSL. Pardee said nearly 3,000 families will select gifts through this week at the various CSL locations in Eastern Jackson County, and each family will receive a frozen meat for a meal, as well. The Independence store requires 80 volunteers each day, she said, and about 400 total will help through the week. Photo Credit: Mike Genet/The Examiner
