Golden retrievers are marvelous dogs and they make fabulous family pets.

Animals Best Friends has recently rescued a wonderful, sweet golden retriever that needs a good foster home or even better, a forever home.

Darla is a great dog who loves to play with toys and does very well with kids. She enjoys car rides, chasing birds, and pursuing squirrels. Darla knows basic commands and comes when she is called. She sticks close to her human and likes being with people. Darla does well with toenail clipping, baths and brushing. Although she is 12 years old, Darla is in good physical condition and can play like a puppy. Darla does well with puppies and cats. She may have a tendency to be alpha with adult dogs. Thunderstorms make her a bit anxious, but nothing serious. She is kennel trained and house broken.

Darla is also laid back and can fit easily into a new routine. She knows when it’s time to play and when it’s time to settle down. Darla is a happy, intelligent, well-mannered dog that will make a great addition to the right family.

If you are interested in fostering or adopting Darla, please go to our website at The foster applications are under the “How to Help” tab. ABF does home visits, vet references, and two week trials to be sure the family and animal are a good fit. Foster parents only pay for the animal’s food. Veterinary care is provided by Animals Best Friends.
