1 Holly and Mistletoe Tour – The Independence Young Matrons will be holding their 57th annual homes tour from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday. The sights and sounds of Christmas will fill four Eastern Jackson County homes: Charles and Sally Baldwin, 1303 S.W. Winport Drive, Blue Springs; Matthew and Angie Judy, 702 N. Union, Independence; Sean Clinefelter and Mike Favreau, 1728 N.E. Aberdeen Drive, Lee's Summit; and Kirk and Angela Grego, 1712 N.E. Lashbrook, Lee's Summit. The Sweet Shop, featuring homemade goodies and raffle baskets, is at the North Independence Branch of Mid-Continent Public Library, 317 W. U.S. 24. Tickets are $12 in advance; $15 at the door. 2 Rock the Red Kettle – This new holiday tradition in support of The Salvation Army programs and services, will be held from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Friday on the KC Live! Stage in the Power and Light District in Kansas City. This community concert will feature the rock band “The Fray,” and will open with American Idol winner and Blue Springs native David Cook. The Red Kettle Christmas Campaign will run through Christmas Eve, with volunteer bell ringers accepting donations at more than 250 locations. Donations are also welcome at this event. 3 Champagne and Chandeliers – The Vaile Mansion is hosting “A Victorian Mystery Masquerade” from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, in the lavishly decorated mansion, 1500 N. Liberty St., Independence. Make plans now for an evening of fun and frivolity, food, games and prizes, champagne and an all-around jolly good time. Costumes are encouraged, but not required. The cost is $40. 5 "The Book of Mormon” – Back by popular demand, this record breaking 2015 engagement returns to Kansas City for a limited engagement Dec. 6 through 11 at The Music Hall in Kansas City. The Book of Mormon follows two young missionaries who are sent to Uganda to try to convert citizens to the Mormon religion. One missionary, Elder Price, is an enthusiastic go-getter with a strong dedication to his faith, while his partner, Elder Cunningham, is a socially awkward but well meaning nerd whose tendency to embroider the truth soon lands him in trouble.
