Nine bands representing high schools from around the metro area will compete at this year's High School Battle of the Bands from 2 to 6 p.m. April 9 at Californos, 4124 Pennsylvania Ave. This event is presented by Kansas City Academy.

Here's the line up:

• Minor Issues: Blue Valley High School, Rockhurst High School, Blue Valley Northwest and Southwest.

• Half Passed Freckles: Pembroke Hill School, Shawnee Mission, Paseo Academy.

• Stranger Tides: Lee's Summit High School, Independence Middle School, Shawnee Mission Middle School.

• Eyes in the Dark: Kansas City Christian School.

• Thursday Night Band: Pembroke Hill School, Raytown Middle School, Grandview High School, Grandview Christian School, Heartland High School.

• Porch Light Prophecy: Shawnee Mission East, St. James Academy.

Hammerhedd: St. Ann's, Rockhurst High School).

• American Slim: This band took second place and secured a spot at the Middle of the Map Festival in May.

• Shades of Blue: St. James Academy, Blue Valley Southwest, Platte County High School, Rockhurst High School, Blue Valley West.
