The GFWC Nu-Era Study Club will meet at 9:30 a.m. May 3 at IHOP, 20100 E. Valley View Circle, Independence.
The business meeting will be called to order by President Gail Jones at 10 a.m. The program will be on music therapy and mental health, with Music Therapist student, Kaitlin Sutton speaking. President Gail Jones will install new members of the club.
The Sophomore Pilgrimage report will be given by District Chairman, Bonnie Balmer. The Sophomore Pilgrimage is a statewide, annual project of the GFWC of Missouri; one outstanding sophomore from each high school may be selected to attend. The local Sophomore Pilgrimage students were hosted by the club for a “Get Acquainted Pizza Party” at Tim’s Pizza on April 7.
May’s service project, will be at Heart to Heart International on May 16 from 9 to 11 a.m. The address is 9650 Dice Lane, Lenexa. The Club will be donating $100 to Heart to Heart and another $50 to the Lean On Me Singers at Truman Medical Center Behavioral Health.
There will be a Plant Sale on June 2 and 3, at the home of Sandy Dennis, 4013 Crimson Drive, Lee’s Summit.
The recent service project, Operation Smile, volunteers made 20 blankets, 83 stuffed animals, 86 No No arm bands, and contributed 17 toothbrushes.
The GFWC of Missouri’s Second District is having their state convention May 10 through 13 at the Ramada & Oasis Convention Center in Springfield.
