The Raytown Arts Council will present its 20th annual summer musical production, “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang,” at 7:30 p.m. July 21, 22, 28 and 29; and 2 p.m. July 23 and 30, at Raytown South High School, 8211 Sterling Ave., Raytown.
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang takes its audience on a fantastic musical adventure with an out-of-this-world car that flies through the air and sails the seas. Based on the beloved 1968 film version of Ian Fleming’s children’s book, this musical features a score by the Sherman Brothers (Mary Poppins).
The reported June 9 theft of the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang replica car from the parking lot of A to Z Theatrical Supply and Service was alarming for the production. The car was under contract with the Raytown Arts Council. A to Z assured the Council there would be a suitable replacement even if the stolen car is not recovered. True to its word, A to Z has a replacement, so the show will go on.
Tickets are $8 in advance, and $10 at the door, and are available at Raytown Hy-Vee and RaytownArts.com/tickets.
