James Michael (Mike) Kelley

James Michael (Mike) Kelley passed away peacefully on June 21, 2022, in Vancouver, Wash. with the love of his life Jane at his bedside. We mourn the loss of a beautiful human, husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle, and friend. Mike was the quiet strength to our family, peaceful, wise, and loving.

Mike was born in Independence, Mo. on February 11, 1953, to Jim and Erma Kelley. He graduated from Truman High School in 1971 and continued his education in nursing. Mike had a successful medical career as an emergency room RN for 40 years working at St. Luke’s in KCMO and several hospitals in Phoenix including the Phoenix Indian Medical Center. Mike was a compassionate nurse saving many lives with his skills, treated his patients with dignity, respect and provided excellent care. He loved classic rock and roll, his garden, and hummingbirds.

Mike was blessed to have found love at an early age. He and Jane enjoyed 44 loving years together. They had two sons and one precious granddaughter. His greatest joy was his family, and he cherished his time with them.

He is survived and deeply missed by his wife Jane, son James (Jessica), son Ben and granddaughter Jamie, all of Vancouver, Wash. Mike also leaves behind his beloved sisters, Jan Kelley (David Buescher) and Terri Kelley Randol (Jeff) whom he was extremely close with, his brother Dennis Romines (Sandra) and many nieces and nephews. He will forever be in their hearts and missed every day.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Erma and Jim Kelley.

To honor Mike’s wishes, there will not be a formal celebration of life. We invite you to privately celebrate Mike’s memory in your own way. He will be there with us all in spirit.
