Jodi Kay Roehrick

Jodi Kay Roehrick, 63, of Blue Springs, Mo. passed away on July 2, 2022. Jodi was born on April 19, 1959 in Columbus, Ind. She moved with her family to Rochester, Minn. in 1968.

Jodi was involved in many activities as a child but most fondly remembered being the first female baseball player in the Rochester (all-boys) youth baseball association. She graduated from Mayo High School in 1977. After graduation Jodi married Thomas Roehrick on July 26, 1980 at Redeemer Lutheran Church. They relocated to Mankato, Minn. and Providence, R.I. before settling permanently in Blue Springs, Mo.

Jodi worked at Blue Springs Hy-Vee for many years. She fondly cherished her coworkers, many of whom are still dear friends, and regular customers who she almost always knew by name.

She was a loyal fan of the Kansas City Chiefs, Kansas City Royals, and whichever sports teams her children and grandchildren were on. A devoted mother and grandmother, Jodi was a true dance/cheer mom, scout mom, and classroom volunteer. You could always find her preparing dance costumes, chauffeuring her kids to and from practices, creating pinatas for school parties, or decorations for school carnivals. As a grandmother, she enjoyed spending time with her three grandchildren, Ryan, Lillian, and Katelyn.

Jodi will be remembered for her creativity and courage. She was an avid crafter who loved to sew, including making all of the Halloween costumes when her children were growing up. Later in life she developed a love of painting. She loved designing painted stones and gifting them to family, friends, and caregivers. More recently, she enjoyed painting classes as well. Jodi also enjoyed photography, especially of nature.

Jodi was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1997. She fought the disease for 25 years, the last 10 battling through the loss of mobility and a variety of illnesses as a result. Throughout her journey she was a fierce advocate for the MS society – often raising money and participating in various charity events benefiting others in the MS community.

Jodi is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Roehrick; her mother, Janet Collins; her birth father, Robert Gaskill, and her sister, Cynthia Suhr. Jodi is survived by her children Timothy Roehrick and Kelly Britt (Roehrick); her father, John Collins; her grandchildren Ryan, Lillian, and Katelyn; her siblings Rick Collins, Randy Collins, and Sara Petersen; her mother-in-law Mary Roehrick; numerous in-laws, extended family members and friends.
