Mary Jane MacPherson (Mann), 97, of Independence, Missouri, passed away on June 28, 2022. She was born to Bertha Reeder Mann and Elmer Virgil Mann in El Dorado Springs, Missouri, March 19, 1925.

Before her tenure at the Mid-Continent Public Library as an educational film buyer, Mary worked for Montgomery Ward, and was a very accomplished seamstress. She enjoyed her daily NYT crossword, spirited games of Scrabble, and a lifetime of reading.

She was preceded in death by her children, Janis Lynn Tompkins (MacPherson) and Jerry Neil Mac-Pherson. She was survived by her neice Kay Lewis; grand neices Alinda Miller, Jacqueline Jacobson, and Jude Kensington; daughter in-law Diane MacPherson (Taylor); son in-law Gordon Tompkins; grandson Ryan MacPherson (wife, Sharin); and great grandson Alexander MacPherson.

A graveside service was held on July 7th at 11:00 a.m. at Hackleman Cemetery in Cedar County Missouri. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Mary’s name to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
