MLB playoff picture and magic numbers: Tigers gain ground with win over Royals; KC magic number stays at 8

Witt's run made it 2-1 and the Royals went on to a 4-1 victory. Witt was 3-for-4 in the game and finished the series 9-for-11 in the series. Starter Seth Lugo pitched the first complete game of his career, allowing just three hits, no walks and one run while striking out six as the Royals improved to 55-45 and moved into position again for an American League wild card playoff spot.
