Mona Mae Goddard, 91, of Independence passed peacefully on December 8, 2022, at Polaris Health and Wellness (Redwood) of Independence, Mo. Mona was born on May 30, 1931, to Peter and Nettie (Heide) Edwards of Maquotketa, Iowa. She was a lifelong active member of Community of Christ. Mona was a church girls leader, and an avid children’s story writer and artist who always enjoyed traveling, exploring settings for her art. Professionally, she was a teachers aid in the Kansas City School District. After graduating nursing school, she was a psychiatric LPN at Truman East, Lee’s Summit. Mona is survived by her children Georgia Mae Beaulieu, Andrew Keith Goddard, Twyla Lee Jones, Patricia Ruth Knapp, Deanna Marie Beebe. She was preceded in death by her husband Griffith George Goddard Jr, her parents, brother Paul Edwards, sister Vera Hill, brother Dale Edwards and son William Goddard. Family and friends plan to gather at Mission Woods Community of Christ, 2800 NW Duncan Rd, Blue Springs, January 21, 2023. Interment will be at Mount Washington Cemetery, Independence, Mo.
