The Jackson County environmental health Division inspects sites where food is served outside Independence and Kansas City. recent inspection results in Blue Springs include:

McDonald’s, 814 N. Missouri 7, inspected Dec. 30.

• The reach-in cooler under the make table was not reaching an ambient temperature of 41 degrees F or below. The ambient temperature of the reach-in cooler was reading 66 degrees F. The items in the cooler were discarded. (Re-inspected on Dec. 30)

• The walk-in freezer had an accumulation of trash/food debris on the floor and under shelves. Correct by 2/21/2020.

Parkway Senior Living Independent Living, 550 N.E. Napoleon Drive, inspected Dec. 27.

• The inside of the microwave had an accumulation of stuck-on food debris. Corrected on site.

• Chef was using a towel as a surface to store in use utensils on. Corrected on site.

Olive Garden Italian Restaurant, 801 N.E. Coronado Drive, inspected Dec. 27.

• The can opener blade had an accumulation of residue build up. Corrected on site.

• There were employees’ drinks on the dish area. Corrected.

• There was an employee’s cell phone on the dish area. Corrected.

Hy-Vee Kitchen/Chef Station/Market Grille, 625 W. U.S. 40, inspected Dec. 30.

• A can was severely dented on the bottom seam. The can was discarded. Corrected on site.

• The microwave had an excessive accumulation of food debris on the top surface Corrected on site.

• There was no handwashing sign in the restrooms to remind employees to wash their hands. Corrected on site.

• Single-service items were stored on the floor. Corrected on site.

• A dispensing utensil was stored in the sugar with its handle in the food item. Corrected on site.

Hy-Vee International/sandwich shop, Caribou Coffee/ soup station, 625 W. U.S. 40, inspected Dec. 30.

• The nozzles on the soda machine had an excessive accumulation of residue. Corrected on site.

• There were multiple occurrences where raw foods were stored above raw, read-to-eat food items. Corrected on site.

Jack in the Box, 808 N. Missouri 7, inspected Dec. 30.

• The wall behind the three-compartment sink had an accumulation of black build up. Repeat.

• The racks above the three-compartment sink had a sticky residue and black build up.

• The floors under the stock shelves in the back storage area had an accumulation of trash debris.

Indian Mix Grill, 1214 N.W. Missouri 7, inspected Dec. 30.

• There was a cloth material being used to store in use utensils.

• The magnet strip in the kitchen used to hold utensils had stuck-on food debris.

• There were multiple items stored inside the reach-in cooler that were not covered.

Back Yard Burgers, 1900 N.W. Missouri 7, inspected Dec. 30.

• There were several containers in the walk-in cooler with no date marking. Corrected on site.

• The cutting boards on both sides of the prep/make table had deep grooves and black debris in the cutting grooves. Repeat.

• There is an accumulation of grease build up under the grill on the wall.

Little Caesars, 1401 S.W. Missouri 7, inspected Dec. 30.

• Numerous pans and dirty dishware were stacked in the handwashing sink. Corrected on site.

• Multiple employees had no food handler permit.

• Single-service napkins were stored on the floor.

Buckets Bar and Grill, 1331 S.W. U.S. 40, inspected Dec. 31.

• The meat slicer had an accumulation of dried meat. Repeat violation.

• The can opener had a build up of food residue on the blade. Corrected on site.

• The microwave had an excessive accumulation of food debris and residue. Corrected on site.

• Bar glasses were stored in a cooler with broken glass. Corrected on site.

• Observed multiple occurrences of raw food products being stored above raw, ready-to-eat food items. Repeat violation.

• There was an excessive accumulation of grease build up on the vents above the grill. Repeat violation.

Dessert Pocket Bakery, 3100 S.W. Missouri 7, inspected Dec. 31. No violations found.

Tuscany italian Restaurant, 1800 S. Missouri 7, inspected Jan 2.

• A knife and pastry scraper was put away for storage prior to being property cleaned.

Plowboys, 3111 S.W. Missouri 7, inspected Jan 2.

• No food handler permits for multiple employees.

• Numerous drinks belonging to employees were stored on a work surface that is used for meal preparation.

• Food is being stored on the floor in the walk-in cooler.

• Single-service items are being stored on the floor.

• There are numerous exposed light bulbs above food prep, food storage and food cooking areas.

• Coleslaw and various other food items were not at 41 degrees F or less upon first observation. Corrected on site. The staff is aware that this particular cooler sometimes trips the circuit breaker and it must be manually reset. The circuit was reset and the food was lowered down to the proper temperature. Re-inspection required on 1/7/20 to ensure continued compliance.
