Molly Whiting, president of Truman High School's Interact Club, speaks to the Independence Rotary Club at its weekly meeting Tuesday at the Independence School District Central Office. Truman's Interact Club, which has been active for several years, received its national charter from Rotary, and Whiting discussed the club's upcoming service project – filling and sending backpacks to needy students in Honduras. “Over the years, we've grown not only membership, but in dedication to making our school, community and world a better place,” Whiting said.

Interact (International Action) was created for teenagers based on four elements – community service, finance, international understanding and club service – and includes about 9,000 clubs worldwide with nearly 210,000 members.
