The rain that started this morning is expected to stick around, on and off, through most of the week.

The National Weather Service says the chance of rain is 80 percent this afternoon and 30 percent this evening.

That's followed by a 30 percent chance of showers Tuesday and 40 percent in the evening, then 50 percent Wednesday and 40 percent Wednesday evening, so the Royals might have a little trouble getting in their games both nights. Rumbles of thunder could accompany some of these showers, but no severe weather is expected.

Temperatures should be pleasant all week – highs around 70, lows in the low to mid-50s. Skies clear by Thursday night, and it looks like a sunny, clear and mild weekend.

Most will welcome the rain. Through Sunday, the Weather Service had recorded one-third of an inch of rain this month at Kansas City International Airport, an inch and a half below average. For the year, the shortfall was two and a half inches. We are headed into what is typically the wettest time of the year. May. June and July usually bring 38 percent of the area's total precipitation.
