A fiery crash Monday afternoon on in western Independence sent three people to the hospital, but police say none had serious injuries.

According to Independence Police, at about 5:25 p.m., a Ford truck traveling north on Sterling Avenue near 35th Street lost control and crossed the center line sliding sideways. It was struck by pair of southbound vehicles – a sedan and another pickup – tipped over onto its side and caught fire.

The northbound driver and the driver and passenger of the southbound sedan, which was on inside of the southbound lanes, were injured, and all three vehicles likely were totaled.
