The city of Blue Springs' Community Development Department will host two public forums this week to allow residents, business owners and community members to provide input for the development of specific area plans for the N2 neighborhood N2 – an area that spans the space east of Missouri 7 and north of Interstate 70.

The first public forum is 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Lucy Franklin Elementary School on 111 NE Roanoke Drive. The second forum is 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the dining room of Blue Springs Country Club at 1600 NW Circle Drive. Conversations will center on input from community members about development priorities and concepts in their neighborhood.

“By speaking with residents, business owners and community members about development in and around their neighborhood, we hope to create and enhance places for community involvement,” Assistant Director of Community Development Jim Holley said in a news release. “This approach is helping us create Specific Area Plans that move beyond land use and adapt to our growing community.”

Each specific area plan is being created in conjunction with the policies, goals, and targets of the citywide Comprehensive Plan adopted in 2015. The city has completed preliminary area assessments of the N2 neighborhood and will provide this information during the public meetings for discussion. Community Development will review feedback and aims to finalize a specific area plan for N2 within two months.

If you are unable to attend either meeting, visit Community Development at Blue Springs City Hall at 903 W. Main Street.
