The Blue Springs Fall Fun Festival officially opens “In the Spirit of America” at noon today, and patrons are encouraged to wear red, white and blue apparel for the downtown street festival’s theme.
The fair runs until 10 p.m. today, and Saturday’s festivities begin with the parade at 10 a.m. and last again until 10 p.m. Sunday’s hours are 10 a.m.-6 p.m. The carnival area will operate noon-11 p.m. today; 10 a.m.-11 p.m. Saturday; and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday.
Shuttle buses will run from White Oak Plaza and from Office Depot near Missouri 7. Shuttles will run 5-10 p.m. today; and 8 a.m.-10:30 p.m. Saturday. There will be no shuttle service on Sunday.
Hours for the Budweiser Beer & Wine Garden, between 10th and 11th streets, are 4 p.m.-midnight today; 2 p.m.-midnight Saturday; and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday. The Side Pockets Main Stage is located in the beer and wine garden. All concerts are free, but there is a cover charge (it was $6 last year) to enter the garden today and Saturday starting at 6 p.m. To view the concerts in the garden, attendees must be at least 21 years of age. Otherwise, people are welcome to view concerts on the bleachers provided outside the garden fence.
Happy hour specials – no cover charge and $1 off beer – will be 4-6 p.m. today and 2-6 p.m. Saturday. The beer and wine garden also will be the site of Giant Jenga, volleybeer and washer tournaments. The car and bike show will be open to the public at 10 a.m. Sunday in the garden.
The Special Needs Party Zone, which includes special bounce houses and games geared toward those with vision impairment, will be at CrossFit Cerberus between 10th and 11th streets – the former post office building.
St. Mary’s Medical Center is sponsoring the Community Stage, and The Examiner is a sponsor for the festival’s main street.
