A fire early Tuesday evening severely damaged a vehicle repair shop in the Englewood Arts District.

Smoke started to appear at Mr. D's Automotive, at the corner of Northern and Winner, about 6 p.m., Deputy Chief Mark Carrick said, and soon after firefighters arrived they found the inside full of smoke with a noticeable fire.

Firefighters quickly had the blaze under control, Carrick said, but it took time to stamp out the hot spots. It is not known if the business would be a total loss.

The apparent cause was an electrical issue that occurred near some heaters and electrical tape, Carrick said, and the fire is not considered suspicious.
