Most branches of the Mid-Continent Public Library have expanded hours starting today.
The library system, which covers three counties on the Missouri side of the metro area, is expanding programming and facilities under a plan voters approved in 2016. Opening on Sundays was identified as a key library patron desire.
The new hours for Eastern Jackson County branches:
• The Blue Springs North, Blue Springs South, North Independence, South Independence and Colbern Road branches will be open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 9 to 6 Friday, 10 to 6 Saturday and 1 to 5 Sunday.
• The Grain Valley, Buckner and Oak Grove branches will be open 9 to 8 Monday through Thursday, 9 to 6 Friday and 10 to 6 Saturday.
• The Midwest Genealogy Center in Independence will be open 10 to 8 Monday through Saturday and 1 to 8 Sunday.
