In anticipation of the Blue Springs City Hall Renovation Project, city offices housed in that building will be moving to other locations beginning Tuesday.
Utility billing (for water and sewer services) will begin operations Tuesday at the Municipal Annex, at 1304 W. Main St. Additional city functions will move out of City Hall, at 903 W. Main St., until the building is vacated by the end of January. The mailing address for all City Hall correspondence will remain the Main Street address, and no city phone numbers will change. The utility bill drop-off box will be moved to the Municipal Annex.
Construction for the renovation project will begin in March, and moving city offices temporarily allows the city to reduce project costs and construction time.
In addition to utility billing, Blue Springs' city departments for community development, business services, building permits, codes administration and economic growth and development will be at the Municipal Annex.
Public works engineering will be housed in a building at 901 Vesper St., a couple of blocks north of City Hall. Human resources will be at the Blue Springs Fieldhouse, 425 NE Mock Ave., where the parks department moved a couple years ago. The mayor, city administration, city clerk, city attorney and finance offices all will housed at the Howard Brown Public Safety Building, 1100 SW Smith St.
City Hall was constructed in 1961 and remodeled in 1989. The renovation project is designed to make the building compliant with updated code requirements and more customer friendly.
