A detached gas line led to William Chrisman High School dismissing students early Monday because of lack of heat in the building, though the issue has been resolved and classes were scheduled as normal for Tuesday.
A Spire crew had been working at a nearby site and apparently did not tie the gas line to Chrisman back into the main. Temperatures outside had been below freezing all night, leaving some areas of Chrisman chilly in the morning. The school dismissed at 10:30 a.m. Monday.
In a social media post, Superintendent Dale Herl said the district will ask the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education for a waiver on the day. That department ultimately will decide on whether or not the district must make up the day of classes.
