The Community Blood Center on Monday issued an appeal for giving, citing the need to replenish supplies after the recent bad weather cut into donations.
Its facility in Blue Springs is open seven days a week. Donors are asked to make an appointment. Go to savealifenow.org or call 877-468-6844.
The CBC, which supplies hospitals across the region, says it needs 580 donations a day. It points out that blood can be given in less than an hour and that one donation can save several lives.
All blood types are needed, though Type O, which is the universal blood type, has the most demand in emergency rooms and for trauma. The CBC says Type O is in short supply.
