An event for those interested in family history is set for today on the Independence Square.
The SCANgaroo will be at the Truman Courthouse from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. It is bringing its mobile scan van, and people can digitally scan photos or documents. It’s $5 for 15 items.
Also, inside the courthouse, the Jackson County Historical Society is offering a sneak peak of the Wilborn negative collection, images from the region’s history. The Historical Society last year came into possession of the 500,000 images, which are now being catalogued.
The Historical Society has prints of about 300 of the photos, and those will be on sale for $5 each.
