Theme is 'You Are Witnesses'

This Sunday the theme is “You Are Witnesses” at Stone Church Community of Christ, 1012 W. Lexington Ave., Independence. The service begins at 10:20 a.m.

The speaker is Greg Savage; with Jim Hannah presiding. Others bringing ministry are Velton Peabody, Holly Ross-Underwood and Ed Dowell. Jeff King will lead the congregational music on the organ. Ministry of Music by a vocal trio, Karen Cross, Rachel Nichols and Riana Nichols.

St. Mark's plans golf tournament

St. Mark’s Catholic Church will be hold its 14th annual Golf Tournament on April 27, at Adams Pointe Golf Course. Shotgun start at 8 a.m. Proceeds will benefit St. Mark the Evangelist Youth Group.

Jacomo Chorale in Independence

The Jacomo Chorale will present a concert at 7 p.m. April 28, at Graceland University Carmichael Auditorium, 1401 W. Truman Rd., Independence, and again at 4 p.m. April 29, at Lee's Summit Community of Christ, 1101 N.E. Independence Ave., Lee's Summit.

The first half of the concert, “Stay Tuned,” will feature music from familiar television shows and commercials, The second half will be a preview of a future recording of Chorale favorites.

The Jacomo Chorale, under the direction of Helena Vasconcellos, presents concerts three to four times a year. The chorale, a not-for-profit 501(C)3 organization, now in it's 35th year, is a community chorale, dedicated to bringing varied types of choral music to audiences throughout Eastern Jackson County.

Heaven Bound Quarter performs
