National Day of Prayer event in Independence
New Covenant Ministries is hosting a National Day of Prayer event on Thursday, at the church, 532 S. Main St., Independence. The public and all denominations are invited to join together in praying for our nation.
Doors will be open to the public from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a contemporary worship service at 6:30 pm.
Southern gospel group plays at Calvary Baptist
Heavenbound will perform at 6 p.m. Sunday, at Calvary Baptist Church, 900 N.W. 22nd St., Blue Springs.

Tag sale at Colonial Hills Communituy of Christ
Colonial Hills Community of Christ will hold a tag sale from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 5, at the church, 3539 S.W. Missouri 7, Blue Springs.
Select from furniture, housewares, home decor items, seasonal decorations, clothing, toys, tools, books and more!
Most items (except furniture and special items) are priced $5 on Wednesday; $3 Thursday; $1 Friday; and 50 cents Saturday. Proceeds benefit their youth camping ministry.

Unity of Independence parking lot sale event
Each year, Unity of Independence rents out our parking spaces for $15 and participants load up their cars, trucks or vans and sell items directly from their vehicles. All proceeds from the sales are theirs to keep. This year, the sale will be from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. May 5.

Glenwood Park Methodist holds free health clinic
Glenwood Park Methodist Church will hold a free health clinic from 9 a.m. to noon May 5, 10000 E. 23rd St., Independence. The church holds the clinics on the first Saturday of the month.
The screenings, sponsored by the Black Nurse Association and the Samuel U. Rodgers Health Center, include glucose, cholesterol, blood pressure and body mass index testing.
