The Jackson County Legislature has scheduled a pair of public hearings regarding the proposed ordinance to place a series of county charter changes on the Nov. 6 ballot.

The hearings are July 16 and July 30 at 2:30 p.m. during the regular meetings of the Legislature, which take place in the downtown Jackson County Courthouse, 415 E. 12th St., Kansas City. The legislative assembly area is on the second floor. Citizens are encouraged to attend, and those who cannot attend can contact their county legislators.

The questions deal with term limits, raises for elected officials, putting the sheriff in charge of the county jail, having the county prosecutor control the Combat tax and allowing legislators to amend the annual budget after it's been adopted.
