UPDATE: Jackson County has canceled the event due to expected heavy rain and lightning.

The Missouri Town 1855 Fall Festival of Arts, Crafts and Music returns to Fleming Park from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday for its 43rd year.

The farming community at 8010 E. Park Road in Lee’s Summit, operated by Jackson County Parks + Recreation and featuring more than 25 19th century buildings, will welcome historical interpreters to its 30-acre site. These guests will demonstrate cooking over a wood fire, woodworking and blacksmithing. A mule-powered sorghum mill will offer insight into how sorghum becomes syrup.

In addition to these attractions, the event will incorporate children’s games dating back 150 years, hay wagon rides and festival foods, including homemade apple butter and cider.

The cost is $10 per car and $20 per bus. Contact 816-228-8980 or visit makeyourdayhere.com/missouritown for more information.
