Independence Police want the public's help to identify the pictured suspect in a kidnapping and sexual assault case.

According to police, the victim said that between 9 p.m. Monday and 1:50 a.m. Tuesday, an adult male kidnapped her from the parking lot of her apartment complex in the area of East 37th Terrace South and Arrowhead Avenue, behind the Independence Commons shopping center.

The man approached the victim while driving a small silver car, either two- or four-door, with a dark interior, and lured the victim over to the car and pulled her inside. He then drove her to a wooded area near R.D. Mize Road and Selsa Road, about a mile away just west of Little Blue Parkway, and sexually assaulted her.

The suspect is described as a white man, about 6 feet tall with a thin build. He was bald or had little hair, had dark eyebrows, dark-colored eyes and sunken cheeks. He was wearing a dark blue or black tank top and dark blue or black pants. Detectives used a sketch artist who worked with the victim to produce a depiction of the suspect.
