The Buckner Branch of Mid-Continent Public Library is offering the following activities for the month of December. The library is located at 19 E. Jefferson St. All activities are free, but registration is required online at mymcpl.org/events. For questions, call 816-650-3212.

Play and Learn Time: For ages 3 and older, 4 p.m. Dec. 3, 10, 17. Enjoy a special preschool playtime that is designed to stimulate young minds and strengthen early literacy skills. We offer stimulating and fun activities as well as the opportunity to meet other preschoolers and their parents.

Kids at the Library: For ages 6 and older, 6:30 p.m. Dec. 4. Discover, create, and play. Explore big ideas in a new way.

Intermediate Excel: For adults, 2 p.m. Dec. 5. If you are ready to go beyond Excel basics, this class adds to your Microsoft Excel knowledge by introducing sorting, simple functions, and other useful tools. Attendance of the program Beginning Excel is suggested.

Christmas with the Cool Cats: For all ages, 2 p.m. Dec. 8. Terry Bell and his band, the Cool Cats, squeeze the most out of all those holiday favorites in this fun-loving holiday accordion concert.

Hidden History of Kansas: For adults, 6:30 p.m. Dec. 12. Missouri’s neighbor to the west has some secrets to tell. Join author and historian Adrian Zink for stories of Kansas’s hidden past and the role Missouri played in this little-known history.

Otaku Club: For teens, 6:30 p.m. Dec. 13. Come to the Library for a celebration of all things anime. From Japanese culture and manga to cosplay and anime screenings, we’ll explore it all.

Create with Lego Bricks – Christmas Tree: For ages 6 and older, 11 a.m. Dec. 15. Bricks 4 Kidz classes provide an atmosphere for children where “we learn, we build, we play with Lego bricks.”

Teens at the Library: 6:30 p.m. Dec. 27. It’s your time to hang at the Library. Discover what we’ve planned just for you.

Kid Games: For ages 6 and older, 10 a.m. Dec. 28. Connect, cooperate, and compete in a variety of games that are fun for your brain. Game on!
