The Blue Springs North Branch of Mid-Continent Public Library is offering the following activities for the month of December. The library is located at 850 N.W. Hunter Drive. All activities are free, but registration is required online at mymcpl.org/events. For questions, call 816-224-8772.

Play and Learn Time: For ages 3 and older, 10 a.m. Dec. 4, 11, 18. Enjoy a special preschool playtime that is designed to stimulate young minds and strengthen early literacy skills. We offer stimulating and fun activities as well as the opportunity to meet other preschoolers and their parents.

Kids Create: For ages 6 and older, 4:30 p.m. Dec. 4 and 18. Spark your imagination and express yourself through art and craft activities.

Music Workshop: For teens, 6:30 p.m. Dec. 4. Learn how to play that musical instrument that’s been sitting in the corner of your room during this interactive workshop. We’ll supply the materials and instruction. You supply the musical instrument.

Storytime with Santa and Mrs. Claus: For all ages, 10 a.m. Dec. 7. Santa and Mrs. Claus are making a special trip from the North Pole to read a holiday story at the Library. After the story, sit on Santa’s lap to tell him what you want for Christmas. Bring you camera.

“This is Kansas City” Storytime: For all ages, 11 a.m. Dec. 8. Author Angela Kmeck introduces children to the art and landmarks of their hometown when she shares her book, This is Kansas City, illustrated by John Hare. Along with the storytime, children will learn how the book was created and draw their favorite part of Kansas City. Coloring sheets will be provided.

Twitter: For adults, 2 p.m. Dec. 10. Tweeting is not just for the birds. Come learn about Twitter and how you can get started.

Kid Games: For ages 6 and older, 4:30 p.m. Dec. 11. Connect, cooperate, and compete in a variety of games that are fun for your brain. Game on!

Teen Games: 6:30 p.m. Dec. 11. Challenge yourself; challenge your friends. Bring it!

Stitch-and-Flip Christmas Table Topper: For adults, 6:30 p.m. Dec. 13. Get a head start on gifts for Christmas by turning leftover fabric into easy-to-sew, festive holiday table decorations. There is a $10 hands-on materials fee, or you can find the supply list online.

Mr. Stinky Feet’s Christmas: For all ages, 2 p.m. Dec. 16. Jim Cosgrove presents Mr. Stinky Feet’s Christmas! Celebrate the holidays with singing, dancing, and stinky feet! Fun for the whole family!
