Two seniors from Van Horn High School have been honored by the Rotary Club of Independence as students of the month.

Destiny Atkinson is a McCoy Award winner, is a four-year cheerleader, is member of the Interact Club and has been active in ROTC events such as the color guard, flag detail and a staff position.

She is in the Missouri Army National Guard as a combat medic and after training plans to become an emergency medical technician and an ER nurse.

She is the daughter of Catherine and Frank Macon.

Marion Jackson is a McCoy Award winner, has made the honor roll and is in the President’s Education Award program. He’s on the student council, plays baseball and runs cross country.

He works at Price Chopper and has helped at Harvesters.

He plans to attend Wichita State University to study aerospace engineering with a possible minor in business.

He is the son of Jeremy L. Jackson and Rosslyn Crawford-Jackson.
